To guarantee such performances, NordVPN automatically connects you to less-congested servers to avoid connection disruptions and speed fluctuations due to server overloading.

NordVPN consistently unblocked Indonesian streaming services like Vidio, Genflix, and Viu. And thanks to the VPN’s impressive streaming speeds, we watched content in high resolution and without buffering or blurriness.

Disappointingly though, NordVPN couldn’t access Indonesia-only titles on Netflix. While it can access 17 Netflix regions, it has never worked with the Indonesian library.

CyberGhost successfully unblocked popular Indonesian streaming services like Vidio, Disney+ Hotstar, WeTV, GoPlay, and Genflix, at every attempt and without any noticeable impact to stream quality.

However, the VPN did struggle at times with access the Indonesia Netflix catalog. It was nowhere near as reliable as our streaming VPN of choice, ExpressVPN.

CyberGhost has the greatest number of servers in Indonesia of all the paid VPNs we’ve tested. Not only that, it’s one of the few VPN providers to offer P2P-optimized servers in Indonesia.

More servers in Indonesia ensures that users have multiple IP addresses available and prevents overloading of servers that can cause slowdowns. During our tests, CyberGhost’s Indonesia servers were often only at around 50% capacity.

We found that CyberGhost was considerably slower than both ExpressVPN and NordVPN, connecting to its Indonesia servers specifically, and overall.

While connected to CyberGhost on nearby servers in Malaysia and Singapore, our speeds dropped by 5%. In comparison, NordVPN’s slowed down by just 4%.

Another disappointing shortcoming is the lack of obfuscated servers or anti-censorship protocols.

While the VPN will generally work to unblock censored websites, it will struggle during times of heightened internet censorship.

TunnelBear is the only safe free VPN with Indonesian IP addresses. More than that, it’s the only free VPN that unblocks Indonesian streaming services like Vidio, Genflix, and Viu from abroad.

That said, we discovered it doesn’t unblock Indonesian Netflix or Indonesian Disney+. Still, when it comes to streaming with a free VPN, TunnelBear remains your best bet.

It has to be said that TunnelBear offers access to an incredible server network for a free service.

In fact, it’s the only free VPN to give users access to the same number of countries as the paid version.

However, TunnelBear only offers one free server in each location, which often leads to slower speeds at peak times due to server congestion.

You also won’t get access to its city-specific server locations. At least you can use the VPN’s full set of features, like its kill switch and obfuscation setting, at no extra cost.

TunnelBear Free is a good choice for general browsing with an Indonesian IP address, but its 2GB monthly data allowance is extremely restrictive.
