  1. Private Internet Access: Best VPN for Argentina Overall
  2. NordVPN: Best VPN for Unblocking Argentinian Streaming Sites

Private Internet Access (PIA) excelled in our Argentina VPN testing, achieving a rating of 9.2/10.

It has more VPN servers in Argentina than any other VPN service, and it also effortlessly unblocked local streaming websites like Telecinco and Telefe.

Although PIA performed well in almost every category, it still can’t unblock the Argentinian Netflix library. If this is your priority, we recommend using NordVPN, instead.

75 VPN Servers in Buenos Aires

PIA has more Argentina servers than any other VPN, offering 75 virtual servers in the city of Buenos Aires.

The benefits of this vast server network translated for in smooth connections without experiencing any congestion issues.

We enjoyed fast streaming speeds and weren’t subjected to annoying CAPTCHAs, which can occur when connecting with a VPN from distant countries like the United States or Spain.

This speed performance came as no surprise, since PIA continues to be one of the fastest VPNs available, earning an impressive 9.7/10 in our VPN speed tests.

Unblocks Telecinco & Telefe but No Netflix Argentina

We thoroughly tested PIA’s ability to access Argentina’s most popular geo-blocked streaming sites.

The US-based VPN reliably unblocked Telecinco and Telefe from outside Argentina. However, it doesn’t work with Argentinian Netflix library, which is a shame.

    PIA Telefe Streaming

PIA unblocks Telefe and Telecinco but not Argentinian Netflix.

Not Recommended for Media Streaming Devices

If your goal is to stream Argentinian content via Smart DNS, on your Fire TV Stick, or to use a VPN on your router, then PIA is not the right choice.

Our tests concluded that its Smart DNS solution simply doesn’t work to unblock streaming apps.

And in terms of the VPN’s router setup, it is slow, complicated, and the overall user experience not very intuitive.

Additionally, its Fire TV Stick app is less reliable at unblocking streaming sites compared to its desktop and mobile apps.

  2. 2. NordVPN: Best for Unblocking Local Streaming Services

NordVPN unblocks every Argentinian streaming service, including Netflix Argentina.

Similar to Private Internet Access, NordVPN effortlessly unblocks all major Argentinian streaming sites. However, it surpassed PIA as a streaming VPN because it also accesses the Argentinian Netflix library.

Despite its excellent performance overall, NordVPN is rated second to PIA because it has fewer Argentinian VPN servers and is more expensive. If you need access to the Argentinian Netflix library and don’t mind paying a little extra, it’s still a great choice.

The Best VPN for Netflix Argentina

NordVPN is the best VPN for accessing Argentina’s Netflix library from abroad. We connected to one of its Argentina servers and instantly unblocked Netflix without any issues. It was the same with popular Argentinian streaming services, Telecinco and Telefe, too.

NordVPN also provides fast-enough international speeds for buffer-free streaming of Argentinian content from as far away as the US. Our speed tests show that NordVPN is only marginally slower than PIA connecting into Argentina, with an average international download speed of 86Mbps.

You can stream Argentinian content on lots of different devices thanks to NordVPN’s wide device compatibility. Its apps for Fire TV and Android TV are much better than PIA’s. It has also recently developed an Apple TV app. However, manual router installation remains quite complicated.

Fewer Servers & More Expensive than PIA

Despite its impressive streaming capabilities, NordVPN is our second choice for Argentina because it has substantially fewer Argentinian servers than Private Internet Access. Currently, NordVPN runs 8 servers, all of them based in Buenos Aires, whereas PIA has 75.

    NordVPN Argentina Servers on macOS

NordVPN is also more expensive than PIA. Its best price is $3.29 per month, whereas PIA only costs $2.03. While we think that NordVPN’s all-round performance justifies a higher price, PIA remains the best option unless Argentinian Netflix is a must.

PrivadoVPN Free is the only free VPN service we recommend for Argentina.

Unlike most free VPNs, it actually has a server in Argentina that delivers fast international speeds. As a bonus, it also works to unblock Telecinco.

PrivadoVPN a trustworthy free VPN service, but its free data allowance is limited to 10GB per month, which you have to manually renew every time. It also doesn’t work with Netflix Argentina or Telefe.

Free Argentina Server But 10GB Data Cap

Free VPNs with Argentina servers are very rare, making PrivadoVPN the best option among the limited choices available.

While TunnelBear Free is another safe free VPN with an Argentina server, its 500MB monthly data cap results in major restrictions.

PrivadoVPN’s 10GB monthly data allowance is far better, but it’s probably still insufficient if you want to use your VPN regularly.

Weirdly, unlike other free VPNs we’ve reviewed, you also have to manually renew your free data via your online account page each month.

    PrivadoVPN Argentina Server

PrivadoVPN requires you to manually refresh your free data each month.

    Unblocks Telecinco at High Speed

Sadly, PrivadoVPN Free’s Argentina server failed to unblock Argentinian Netflix and Telefe in our streaming tests.

At least, it did stream Telecinco and it did so at impressive speeds to produce high picture definition.

This matches the VPN’s performance in other countries. In fact, we experienced similar high speeds while using the VPN to connect into Mexico.

How to Get an Argentinian IP Address Using a VPN

To obtain an Argentinian IP address from the United States and anywhere else in the world, you’ll need a VPN with Argentina servers.

Follow these simple steps to get an Argentinian IP address:

  1. Choose a VPN with servers in Argentina and register an account. We recommend Private Internet Access due to the sheer number of Argentina servers it has.
  2. Install the VPN onto your device.
  3. Launch the application and login to your VPN account.
  4. Open the VPN’s server list and find the Argentina server.
  5. Select the server or click the connect button. Your VPN will attempt to establish a connection to its Argentinian server.
  6. Once connected, you will have been assigned an Argentina IP address, which you can check by using an IP address checker tool.

You can see how easy the process is in the video below. We used ExpressVPN to switch our US IP address to an Argentinian one in a matter of seconds:

Why Do You Need a VPN for Argentina?

VPNs offer a number of benefits for those looking to connect to Argentina:

1. Unblock Argentinian Websites & Streaming Services

The main reason most people want an Argentina VPN is to access Argentinian websites and streaming platforms from outside the country.

Due to geo-restrictions, if you’re outside of Argentina you can’t watch Telefe, Telecinco, Argentinian Netflix, and other streaming services.

A VPN enables you to get an Argentinian IP address and circumvent these geo-restrictions, allowing you to stream content from anywhere in the world.

EXPERT ADVICE: You do not need a VPN to access or watch video content on these Argentinian TV channels and streaming services:

  • América TV
  • ACanal 13 & 26
  • ACine.ar
  • AC5N
  • ADeporTV
  • AEl Nueve (Canal 9)
  • AEl Trece
  • AFlow
  • ATN (Todo Noticias)
  • ATV Pública (TVP)

All of these channels work from anywhere without an Argentinian IP address.

2. Get Discounts on Subscriptions & Games

Many popular subscription services offer regional pricing. By connecting to a country with lower prices, VPNs enable you to get considerable discounts.

For example, you can use a VPN to get Netflix much cheaper, or to get YouTube Premium for just $16.00 per year.

Acquiring an Argentinian IP address enables you to access the Argentinian internet and potentially purchase subscription services at a much cheaper price. With the Argentine peso currently so weak, regional pricing means you can use a VPN to get huge discounts on services like HBO Max and Steam.

HBO Max Argentina Pricing

HBO Max pricing is a lot cheaper in Argentina.

After conducting tests, we found that connecting to an Argentinian server allows you to get discounts on Crunchyroll and Tidal subscriptions, as well as the Epic Games Store. However, it will not allow you to get discounts for Disney+, Netflix, or Spotify.

EXPERT ADVICE: Argentina is renowned for having the lowest Steam store prices. Unlike what other websites may say, our testing confirmed that you cannot use it to get cheap Steam games.

There are other countries you can try with the right VPN, though: see our guide to changing Steam store regions for a full walkthrough.

VPNs You Should Avoid for Argentina

Not all VPNs are suitable for Argentina – including many premium ones. As a result of our testing, we have narrowed down 65 popular VPNs to just three recommendations for Argentina.

Our stringent criteria led us to exclude even well-known VPNs like NordVPN, IPVanish, and PrivateVPN from our list.

Here’s a list of some VPNs that do not meet our standards for use in Argentina, and why:

Surfshark

What we don’t like: While Surfshark offers an Argentina server location, it falls short when it comes to unblocking Argentinian Netflix. Ultimately, PIA and ExpressVPN emerge as better choices in terms of affordability and streaming, respectively.

TunnelBear Free

What we don’t like: TunnelBear Free is a free VPN option that has an Argentina IP address. However, its data cap of 500MB per month is far too restrictive.

ProtonVPN & ProtonVPN Free

What we don’t like: Both the premium and free version of ProtonVPN failed to unblock any Argentinian streaming services.

Windscribe Free

What we don’t like: Windscribe Free is usually a top free VPN, but in this case it doesn’t offer an Argentinian server and was therefore excluded from our list.

How We Test VPNs for Argentina (Methodology)

We assess and rate the top free and paid VPNs for Argentina using a strict methodology we’ve developed specifically for this purpose.

Our evaluation is based on important criteria including server locations, streaming, speeds, price, and more — each contributing to the VPN’s overall rating forArgentina.

The table below shows how our Argentina VPN recommendations performed based on our Argentina-specific criteria.

Below, you can find our testing categories along with the percentage they contribute to the final rating:

1. Argentina Server Locations: 30%

Minimum Requirement: A server location in Argentina.

We Recommend: Many servers in Argentina, located in various cities.

For an Argentina VPN, the most important attribute is providing access to a diverse range of Argentinian IP addresses through secure VPN servers, allowing seamless connections into Argentina from anywhere in the world.

The quantity of Argentina servers directly impacts the VPN’s rating, as more servers mean better performance and accessibility.

In our assessment, we do not favor physical or virtual VPN servers, acknowledging that both have their merits; physical servers are safer, but virtual servers enable you to get an IP address in more countries, including Argentina. However, we do like to see the option of both being provided and labeled.

2. Argentina Streaming: 30%

Minimum Requirement: Unblocks Telecinco and Telefe.

We Recommend: All of the above, as well as Netflix Argentina.

Unblocking Argentinian streaming platforms from abroad is a key requirement of an Argentina VPN.

In our streaming tests, we assessed each VPN based on its ability to bypass geo-restrictions on Netflix, Telecinco, and Telefe.

On one hand, our tests revealed that geo-blocks of Telecinco and Telefe are easily overcome by most VPNs.

On the other hand, Argentinian Netflix has very strict blocks only two VPNs were able to bypass.

Below you can see a fuller picture of the streaming tests we performed to find the best VPNs for Argentinian streaming:

3. Speed: 20%

Minimum Requirement: An average international download speed greater than 60Mbps, and ping lower than 100ms.

We Recommend: An average international download download speed above 80Mbps, and ping lower than 50ms.

We reward VPNs that provide speeds as close to your normal internet connection as possible.

This way, we know which VPNs will stream content smoothly, download files quickly, and browse the web without interruptions.

To cater to users connecting to Argentina from diverse locations, including the US and Spain, we use an average international download figure derived from our own rigorously-gathered speed data. This long-term data provides accurate insight into the VPN’s overall international performance.

Testing Private Internet Access' connection speeds using our tool

We conduct every speed test using our own purpose-built tool to ensure consistency.

4. Security & Technical Features: 10%

Minimum Requirement: Fast and secure VPN protocols, like OpenVPN and WireGuard, and AES-256 or ChaCha20 encryption.

We Recommend: All of the above, as well as a working VPN kill switch and IP address leak protection.

While you may not think security is important when unblocking a website or app in Argentina, we beg to differ.

When you’re VPN application is running, by default all your device’s internet connections are routed through the VPN tunnel.

For this reason, using a secure VPN even for streaming is incredibly important. If you use an insecure VPN, you could leak sensitive data to unknown third-parties.

That’s why we favor VPN apps that come with the AES-256 or ChaCha20 encryption cipher, and use trusted VPN protocols like OpenVPN and WireGuard.

These features allow for secure connections between your device, the VPN servers you connect to, and the websites and apps you use.

5. Privacy & Logging Policy: 10%

Minimum Requirement: Privacy-focused logging policy, supported by court cases or independent audits.

We Recommend: No-logs policy confirmed by real-world incidents, trustworthy ownership, and RAM-based (diskless) servers.

VPNs primarily serve as privacy and security tools. As such, evaluating a VPN’s logging policy and privacy credentials remains key even for streaming-purposes.

We examine thoroughly a VPN’s privacy policy, jurisdiction, company history, and supporting evidence that validate its logging claims, such as court cases or independent audits.

By scrutinizing these aspects, we ensure that our recommended VPNs provide a robust and reliable level of privacy protection for users.

Data Cap Reduction: Up to 50%

Free VPNs are often limited by data caps that effect the overall usefulness of the service.

To account for this limitation, we give penalties to free VPNs that enforce data caps, with stricter penalties applied to the most restrictive data caps. Here’s a breakdown:

  • 10GB per month: -20% to the overall rating
  • 500MB per day: -25% to the overall rating
  • 5GB per month: -30% to the overall rating
  • 1GB per month: -35% to the overall rating
  • 200MB per day: -40% to the overall rating
  • 500MB per month: -50% to the overall rating

PrivadoVPN Free has a 10GB per month data cap, so we’ve taken 20% off its overall Argentina rating to reflect its limited performance.

Argentina VPN FAQs

Which VPN Has the Most Servers in Argentina?

Our research shows that Private Internet Access has the most servers in Argentina, with 75 virtual servers in Buenos Aires.

However, it’s important to note that not all VPNs disclose the number of servers they maintain, and this number can fluctuate.

Which Free VPN Has Servers in Argentina?

PrivadoVPN Free and TunnelBear Free are the only free VPNs that have servers in Argentina. Both are completely safe to use but their usefulness is limited by data caps.

There are so few VPNs with servers in Argentina because there is less demand for VPN servers there compared to countries like the US, Canada, Japan, and the UK. Therefore, free VPN providers do not prioritize them.
